I love how much H loves exploring books. It’s so fun to nurture his curiosity and imagination. In our home we keep our books in as many places as possible. We like to encourage them to be in hands for everyone to engage with and I want little hands to be able to access them just as easily as any toy. We have a stash in the car, our going out bag, on shelves, in baskets, pretty much wherever you look. Having books in children’s play spaces sends the message to them that books provide entertainment and are important!
Here are the books that are in our book stack this month. This just means I’ll be reaching for these more intentionally to share with Hudson and pairing activities with these books as we read them and explore them more with him.
Max and Millie – The Collection | Our first series collection and H seriously LOVES these board books. Max and Millie are friends and each book (7 in this board book collection) has something fun that the pair navigate! Hudsons favorite is “Max and Millie take turns” He loves the red car in this one!
Thats Not My Llama | This sweet board book has the best touch a feel pages. Hudson loves to touch the different textures and see the silly Llama. Board books are perfect for little readers.
The Thank you Dish | This simple and heartwarming book shares the importance of dinnertime and family time, and a child-friendly explanation of the value of community, sharing and gardening!
All Better | What makes everything all better? Clean it, kiss it and put a bandage on it! Hudson loves helping the animals by making things “all better” with the five reusable and repositionable stickers.
1,000 Things Under the Sea | Ever since our trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Hudson has LOVED all things under the sea. He was obsessed with Shark Week and every time I get him a book about sea life and sea animals he gets so excited and can’t put the book down. I’ve got a really fun activity that pairs well with this book. Keep an eye out on my Instagram Stories to see when we share it next week!
Night, Night Busy Town | This is such a fun book! It has pullout tabs that slide out of each page to reveal a fun storybook that introduces key concepts and simple vocabulary. The beautiful pictures bring the busy city vehicles to life. The perfect story before bedtime.
What is the Moon? | Hudson loves to explore the magic and mystery of the moon, from why it changes shape and what makes it shine to how astronauts managed to land on it and what they found there. This delightful book makes a perfect introduction to the start of questions about space, planets and the moon. I also have a really fun activity that pairs well with this book and a DIY for “Moon Sand”. Keep an eye out on my Instagram Stories to see when we share it soon!
Fletcher and the Falling Leaves | As the leaves fall from his favorite tree, Fletcher worries that something is terribly wrong. But then winter comes with a wonderful surprise.
Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn |A gorgeous tribute to the changing seasons that celebrates the best of Summer and the start of Fall. A wonderful way to educate children on the changes seasons bring!
It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse! | Mouse is excited for Fall because that means it is time to decorate pumpkins! But one is missing. Where could it have gone? This is the perfect Halloween book for the very youngest reader, and is just the right book.
The Roll Away Pumpkin | A wonderful & whimsical autumn bedtime tale!
Spookey Pookie | Pookie gets dressed up for Halloween in this silly board book.
Too Many Pumpkins | When an enormous pumpkin falls off a truck and smashes in her yard, she shovels dirt over the pieces and forgets about them. But those slimy pumpkin smithereens sprout up in Autumn, and Rebecca Estelle finds a sea of pumpkins in her garden.
Sleep Tight Farm | A sweet story of how a family gets a farm ready for Fall and the snow of winter. This story connects each season to the preparations at the very end of the farm year. This beautiful and informative book paints a fascinating picture of what winter means to the farm year and to the family that shares its seasons, from Spring’s new growth, Summer’s heat, and Fall’s bounty to Winter’s well-earned rest. All year long the farm has worked to shelter us, feed us, keep us warm, and now it’s time to sleep.
The Busy Little Squirrel | The leaves have started to fall. The air is cold. Squirrel needs to get ready for Winter. He cannot nibble with the mice. He does not have time to hop with the frogs or run with the dogs. Will this busy little squirrel ever slow down? A exciting adventure awaits in this story!
Thankful | This sweet book combines charming rhymes and whimsical illustrations to convey the importance of being thankful for everyday blessings. Like the gardener thankful for every green sprout, and the fireman, for putting the fire out, readers are encouraged to be thankful for the many blessings they find in their lives. Reminding children how blessed and special they are. Meant to be read aloud, this heartwarming picture book will be a treasured.
Tractor Mac Harvest Time | When the nights start to get cooler and the corn is ready for picking, it’s time for autumn fun at the farm! Tractor Mac loves the fall, but he’s just too big for the orchard, where he is stuck harvesting apples that Farmer Bill will make into delicious treats. Working together, Tractor Mac and Small Fred figure out a way to share their chores and share the fun.
