I shared last week on Instagram stories about how I do 3 things every day and that I have noticed a HUGE difference in my daily life. Now, I know what you’re thinking… I don’t have time for self care… how do you fit it into your day? What do you do when you feel guilty. What even is self care?! etc. Believe me, I have been there and somedays I’m still there. We currently live with my in laws. So privacy and alone time is seldom between 5 bodies under one roof. It also requires sacrifice time and wake up early for these things, but again, I have seen a HUGE change for the better, Its absolutely worth it. I’m also a morning person so early isn’t a negative for me! You could even flip this for a night routine! I’m currently trying to make a night time self care routine too. Simple yet intentional!
Anyway, here are the 3 things I have to do to start my day:
1. Waking up before the rest of my house for some quite time. I know the thought of giving up more sleep may sound crazy. I used to require 8 solid hours of sleep, but since having a baby I’ve had to adjust, and be flexible and go with the flow. When I wake up to have quiet time before the rest of my home wakes I for sure set myself to win. I’m able to check in with myself and start my day off clearing my heart and mind.
2. I shower. I know this is a no-brainer and if you don’t have a young child you may even laugh and think to yourself, well duh, I do this everyday. Well, friend, consider yourself lucky! My Hubs and I have tried SO many ways of trying to tag team showers before we both go to work, while getting out kiddo up, fed and entertained without him causing mischief. I feel refreshed after my morning shower and its something I do that I know fuels me!
3. I eat breakfast and have a glass of lemon water. I’m not a big breakfast fan and I don’t enjoy heavy breakfasts but I also hated starving by lunch time and not feeling fueled for my day. I would end up lethargic, crabby and sneaking candy to make it to lunch. Also, coffee is not food, in case anyone else thought it was… Just me? Okay, cool.. Why lemon water? I’ve always been a slaker water drinker, but I do enjoy lemon in my water, so to encourage myself to drink more I toss a few lemon slices! Whatever helps right?! Anyway, I’ve come up with a little list of go to breakfasts that I feel good eating and that fuel me for my work morning until lunch!
Something I find really helpful is communicating my needs with my husband. He is always asking me how he can serve me and care for me, but most of the time, I never have an answer, or The things I need to do he literally can’t cause they are for business, or personal women stuff ha. Anyway, I’ve shared my 3 morning things and for the past few weeks he has been giving me the space to do them. He knows I am my best when I am able to do these, plus if I’m making breakfast there is a good chance I made enough for him too! It is a win, win for all of us.
So thats it. Just a few ways I care for myself each day. I’d love to hear your ways of self care. They don’t always have to be big things, but they totally can. 😉
